How to perform GM Tech 2 Selftest


The Tech-2 is the same tester GM Technicians use to diagnose GM vehicles. The Vetronix Tech 2 comes with Authentic GM software and provides support for on-board diagnostics on all GM systems 1999 thru 2013.

Several months ago, I bought a GM tech 2 on And then I heard from my friend that it had better to do a self-test before using it. I am just a green hand, so I turn to ask engineer for help.

Here list the whole process about GM tech 2 self-test.

1.Insert the GM card to the main unit
2.Insert the self test adapter with the main unit, and then start the main unit.
3.Enter the menu, and select “F4: Tool Options”
4.Select “F3: Self Test”
5.Screen indicates “Exit” to continue.
6.Select “Self Test Function”.
7.Click “Automated VCI”
8.The self test result shown below.
